History Isn't Extra

We’ve heard it many times before. STEM is essential. Writing and grammar are necessary. But history? It’s just one of the “extras.”

We’re not here to say math and grammar don’t matter (they absolutely do). But we do want to make the case that history is critical and deserves a spot at the heart of your child’s education—even though it’s often treated like an optional subject in schools.

History reveals the struggles and successes that have shaped the human story. Understanding it can inspire us to accomplish amazing things, and prevent us from reliving the same mistakes.

History invites us to explore human nature, moral imagination, and ethics. It challenges our children to understand different perspectives and reflect on what it means to live with integrity and courage.

History isn’t extra. It’s essential. Because education isn’t just about the skills our kids learn, but about the kind of people they become.
