Our Process
Four decades of experience have taught us a thing or two about creating curriculum that works. Here’s how we do it.
For the family who dreams of world travel. In this homeschool curriculum your child will encounter geography and culture throughout Europe and South America and will gain new perspectives and a deeper appreciation for the vibrant cultural tapestry of our world.
This teacher guide contains gentle questions designed to prompt discussion and discovery. Geographic elements include country maps and flags for children to cut out, paint or color, encouraging journaling of all they are learning. Beautiful drawings of indigenous animals will familiarize students with some remarkable creatures, their habitat and habits, cultivating respect and wonder for the natural world.
Continue your journey around the world in this homeschooling curriculum covering South America and Europe! In Europe you and your children will travel through France, Spain, Italy, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, and Great Britain. In South America: Ecuador, Chile, Peru, and Brazil. Along with award-winning literature, this course includes nature study, folktales, fables, music, art, poetry, and history.
Each country visited also includes a Library Connection, as well as History and Biography suggestions, so that parents can expand the study with additional recommendations. Each chapter in the guide concludes with a fun foray into the cuisine of the country with recipes, photos, and links to create a memorable evening visiting unique culinary creations from around the world.
Part I covers Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica.

This is such a beautiful book and the scope and sequence is perfect for us! I really like the pace and rhythm, each country fits nicely in one to three weeks depending on how many days we have to spend on it. The book choices are lovely and we’ve been able to find a lot of the library connection books at our local library. We’ve really enjoyed it!
Wonderful resource!
My review is the same here as the first for the most part. We loved this curriculum and I divided it into subject (history, science, and character building) and while we didn't buy all the books in the curriculum there were some not included that were suggested from the "Library Connection" section and we have enjoyed them just as much. Also one SURPRISE for me we ANNO'S JOURNEY!!! When I first saw it I was unsure and we ended up LOVING the book and looking forward to ending our school days with it.
I have been homeschooling for 22 years. I thought I was done with elementary studies until we had our granddaughter during the day over the summer and after school (once school started.) Her mom and I split the cost for the books, and we began our study. I will say, after using so many programs over the years, Around the World (Part 1) is the most AMAZING curriculum I have ever used. The books are wonderful, but the guide is the key. I love the video suggestions, art, library books, and recipes. You are not just reading about these places. You are seeing, feeling, smelling and tasting the world. My 7th and 9th grader have loved the program too. I even counted it as my "diversity" requirement at work. LOL For me, this program tied together many of the interests I have had over the years and gave me a way to see them all in a new light. BTY, my 26 year old wants to borrow the program after we are done. Maybe we never grow too old to learn new things. Thank you, Rea. You have really created an excellent study! We are going to order Part 2 next, because we just have to.
I didn’t care for the actual lessons, I think they could be worded in a way that is easier to teach from, and contain more interesting information, what I did love was the ability to use this guide as a starting point for studying a country. I don’t think the book pack is necessary (I have it), most of the books can be found at the library. The guide offers many additional books that are worth checking out. From there, we also used other resources to find additional books. I later bought the guide for part 1 used, and I think from now on that’s the way to go for us!
