Our Process
Four decades of experience have taught us a thing or two about creating curriculum that works. Here’s how we do it.
The Wright Brothers: First in Flight Orville and Wilbur Wright loved to invent, from speedy sleds to soaring kites. Their passion for building and understanding mechanics led them from bicycle repair to aviation history. On December 17, 1903, Orville made the first powered flight, launching a new era in transportation and innovation.
Young Orville and Wilbur Wright loved building things. From the fastest sled in town to the highest-flying kite, the Wright brothers’ creations were always a step ahead of everyone else’s. They grew up learning all about mechanics from fixing bicycles and studied math and physics. On December 17, 1903, Orville took off in the world’s first flying machine!

This was a bit hard for me after just reading McCullough's book about the Wright Bros. Started out great, really gave their mother credit for a lot, which McCullough neglects. But a lot of the dialogue/personality seems completely fictionalized (writes the brothers' personalities opposite of McCullough, and I trust his research more), spends too much time on Orville's illness, and misses a lot of valuable character lessons. They didn't care about fame at all. They were men to look up to in a lot of ways. Lack of pride, love of learning, etc. Also completely neglects that they were made famous overseas first. If I hadn't read the other book I would have assumed this book was fine. Now I don't really think so.
