When I was young in the mountains, Grandfather came home in the evening covered with the black dust of a coal mine. Only his lips were clean, and he used them to kiss the top of my head. Growing up in the mountains was special. Grandmother made hot corn bread and fried okra. There were trips to the swimming hole and Crawford's store. Each pleasure was one to share - and remember. This is a cute book with illustrations that are great for kids. Its a book about a child living in simpler times and being content, as an adult its about looking back on the past with positive memories of how things were before electronics. It talks about a child and their grandparents and going to the general store, going to a single room school house and church on Sundays and baptism. Easy read, my kids enjoyed it.
