Leif the Lucky

Long before Columbus, a bold Norse explorer set sail into the unknown. Leif Erickson and his father, the infamous Erik the Red, navigated icy seas and uncharted lands to establish the first European settlement in North America. With stunning illustrations inspired by Viking runes and Norwegian folk art, the d'Aulaires bring the world of this young Viking boy vividly to life with thundering fjords, mythical creatures, and the wild shores of what would one day be called Newfoundland.

This is the first BF book that I bought, and I just love it. I love being able to share the beautiful illustrations and stories with my children!

We like to read biographies after hearing about that time in our CC timeline. After hearing about Eric the Red and Leif Ericksson from the CC timeline we read this book. Not only were the pictures great, but the stories are well done too. The stories are longer, so for my 6 & 7 we read it over a few weeks instead of just 1 sitting. My kids were able to connect with who they were and now recognize them when they hear them in the timeline.
